Between 1892 and 1954, millions of immigrants seeking a better life in America passed through here. The island was the gateway to the \u2018Land of the Free\u2019 and thus has special significance in American history. Today, Ellis Island is a museum where you can learn about the experiences of these immigrants. You can visit interactive exhibits, view old documents and even reenact the medical examinations the immigrants underwent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Good to know: Do you have a Go City Pass?
