Visit Hiroshima Castle, also known as Carp Castle, an elegant castle set in the middle of a green park a short distance from the city center. The original castle was completely destroyed during the atomic bomb in 1945, but was later carefully rebuilt as a symbol of recovery and resilience. Today, the main tower houses a museum on the history of Hiroshima and the life of the samurai, with a vantage point on top that offers a nice overview of the city.
Around the castle, canals, stone walls and quiet walkways create a relaxing atmosphere. In spring, the cherry blossoms attract many visitors, but even outside this season, it is a pleasant place to pause and reflect on both the past and modern Hiroshima. Hiroshima Castle is thus a meaningful and accessible addition to a visit to the city.
