Marathon

Big Pine Key
Big Pine Key feels a lot quieter and is known for the National Key Deer Refuge. This nature reserve protects the habitat of the rare Key Deer, a small deer species found only in the Florida Keys. With any luck, you'll spot these animals along the road or on a short walk through the park.

Key West

• Accessibility - The Florida Keys are located south of Miami and are accessible via the Overseas Highway. From Miami you will drive to Key West in about 4 hours, depending on your stops along the way.
• Best travel time - The months of November to April are most pleasant, with plenty of sunshine and little rain. Summer can be hot and humid, with a chance of tropical storms.

Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge

The Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge protects the habitat of endangered manatees and covers several islands and springs around the river. The park was established to provide a safe haven for these special manatees during the colder months.

Visitors can explore the area through hiking trails, viewing platforms and the visitor center. The hiking trail around Three Sisters Springs is especially popular, as you can often see manatees up close in the clear water here.
