The Disney Dream is a cruise ship within the fleet of Disney Cruise Line and the sister ship of the Disney Fantasy. On board you'll find multiple restaurants, theater shows, pools, kids' clubs and quiet lounges designed for travelers of different ages. The atmosphere is consistent with what many visitors know from the Disney parks: cared for, welcoming and with attention to detail.
Unlike the Art Nouveau-based Disney Fantasy, the Disney Dream is primarily designed in Art Deco style. The ship is often used on short- to medium-haul itineraries, making it a logical choice for those who want to get acquainted with cruising or combine a trip with a stay in Florida.
Theme & design
The Disney Dream is decorated in art deco style. This is reflected in geometric shapes, dark accents and the use of materials such as metal and glass. Symmetrical patterns in floors and walls, combined with glossy finishes and clean lines, also reinforce this classic cruise atmosphere. In the lobby, a statue of Donald Duck in captain's clothing stands as a landmark.
Disney elements are present in the décor, but not emphatic. They appear in illustrations, patterns and subtle references in the public areas. The ship's design is functional with clear walkways between restaurants, theater, lounges and outdoor decks.
Routes and destinations
The Disney Dream is used primarily on sailings to the Bahamas and parts of the Caribbean. Itineraries often consist of a mix of days at sea and destinations where you can explore the coast or relax on the beach. This makes the trip suitable for those looking for a cruise vacation that can be combined well with time ashore.
In addition, the Disney Dream is also used on European itineraries. During these cruises, you will sail past destinations in the Mediterranean or Northern Europe, among others, focusing on cultural cities and coastal towns. This makes the ship interesting for travelers who want to combine Disney comfort with European destinations.
Many sailings on the Disney Dream call at one of Disney Cruise Line's private islands. Depending on the sailing schedule, this may Disney Castaway Cay or Disney Lookout Cay Cay are. These islands offer beaches, hiking opportunities and activities for a variety of ages, in a controlled and peaceful environment.
Travelers frequently choose to extend the cruise with a stay in Walt Disney World in Florida. For many people, this is a way to experience both the theme parks and the tranquility of a cruise within one trip. Want to know more about this combination trip? On-board facilities
On board the Disney Dream, facilities are available for both relaxation and entertainment. The ship offers swimming pools and outdoor decks, restaurants and lounges, unique Disney shows, children's clubs and adult-only areas. The layout allows you to alternate between quiet venues and lively areas, depending on the time of day and the makeup of the travel party.
Food and drink
Multiple dining options are available aboard the Disney Dream. The three main restaurants Royal Palace, Enchanted Garden and Animator's Palate make up the rotational dining concept. Here you dine in a different setting each night, but with the same service team that continues to follow you. Royal Palace has décor with references to classic fairy tales, Enchanted Garden is inspired by a beautiful green garden and Animator's Palate combines dining with creative elements from the world of animation.
For breakfast and lunch, head to Cabanas, the ocean-view buffet restaurant inspired by classic beach resorts with light colors and a relaxed atmosphere. On the outside deck you'll find Flo's Café, designed in the style of an American drive-in along Route 66, where you can grab a quick bite to eat like pizza, burgers or wraps. Vanellope's Sweets & Treats is based on the world of Wreck-It Ralph and feels like a colorful candy store, with ice cream, chocolate and other sweets for in-between meals.
Shows and entertainment
A daily program of shows, film and activities is offered aboard the Disney Dream. The Walt Disney Theatre hosts Broadway-style musicals, including Beauty and the Beast, Disney's Believe and The Golden Mickeys (a tribute to several Walt Disney films).
The AquaDuck is a striking feature of the outer deck. This water coaster runs around the ship via a transparent tube with rapid descents and that hangs partially outside the ship's wall. There are also several pool areas, including Mickey's Pool, Donald's Pool, Funnel Puddle and the water play area Nemo's Reef for younger children.
On select sailings, there are seasonal events, such as Halloween on the High Seas and Very Merrytime Cruises. In addition, usually each voyage begins with a Sail Away Party on deck, where music, entertainment and Disney characters celebrate the sailing together. Regular deck parties with performances and shows take place throughout the cruise. Most voyages feature an evening fireworks show at sea.
For sports and recreation, travelers can visit Goofy's Sports Deck, which includes basketball and miniature golf. Movies are shown in the Buena Vista Theatre or outside on the big screen Funnel Vision on the pool deck.
Zones for children and adults
The Disney Dream features several rooms designed by age and type of activities. For the youngest travelers, there is It's a Small World Nursery, designed for children from six months to three years old, with supervision in a quiet, playful environment.
For children ages three to ten, there is Disney's Oceaneer Club. This club features themed areas such as Andy's Room, based on Toy Story, and Star Wars: Millennium Falcon, where children can play, design and participate in interactive games within the theme of the film series.
There are also special experiences on board that are especially popular with children. At the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, young guests are transformed into real princesses or knights, including costume and styling. Royal Court Royal Tea is a festive tea time for children ages three to 12, where they enjoy stories, music and treats with Disney princesses. These activities make the cruise extra special for families with young children.
There are separate lounges for older age groups. Edge caters to young people aged about eleven to fourteen, and Vibe is for teens up to seventeen. Here they can meet, play games, watch movies and participate in activities in their own space without adults.
Adults also have several areas on board, these focused on relaxation and hospitality. At night, The District is an area of bars, lounges and entertainment venues, with locations such as District Lounge, Pub 687, Pink: Wine and Champagne Bar, Skyline and Evolution.
For diners without children, there are restaurants that focus on more sophisticated cuisine. Remy is inspired by French gastronomy and offers sea views from the upper decks. Palo serves dishes with influences from northern Italian cuisine.
These parts of the ship provide a place to eat in a quiet setting, have a drink or take advantage of the evening program, separate from the family areas on the ship.
