EPCOT

EPCOT is one of four theme parks in the Walt Disney World Resort which is located in Orlando. This innovative park continues to evolve over the years into a park of diverse experiences and attractions, while maintaining its original vision of Walt Disney and its futuristic and cultural experience. This park is all about experience and variety, perfect to grab on your Walt Disney World vacation.

EPCOT consists of four themed areas called: World Celebration, World Discovery, World Nature and World Showcase. These four areas all offer a unique experience and attraction, which can make a vacation to Orlando with a visit to EPCOT very appealing!

Theme areas of EPCOT

World Celebration

This section contains the beautiful Imagination Pavilion, which is a pavilion where there is a complete focus on creativity, imagination and art. This section also contains one of the must-do attractions, namely: Spaceship Earth! In this darkride attraction, you will be taken on a journey through time, and discover how technology and innovation has changed.

World Discovery

World Discovery is located in the eastern part of the park and includes the beloved attraction ‘Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind,’ opening in 2022. This attraction is EPCOT's first roller coaster and also the first Disney attraction in which you are launched backwards! In this attraction, you assist Rocket, Gamora, Groot and Star-Lord on an all-important mission through space and through time.

World Nature

World Nature is located in the western part of EPCOT and focuses on the natural aspect and its preservation. This themed area includes attractions such as: Journey of Water, inspired by Moana, where you can walk around freely and control water in different ways. Also ‘Soarin’ Around the World’ is located within World Nature, this is a flight simulator attraction where you experience what it is like to fly through different countries of the world through a 4D experience.

World Showcase

World Showcase is another completely different area! Here Disney showcases different parts of the world within the park, with a large lake in the middle called ‘World Showcase Lagoon. In this themed area, you will discover and experience iconic recreated locations around the world, themed food and beverages and various stores. This area is great for walking around and discovering all kinds of things. For example, around it you will find the following countries: Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, America, Japan, Morocco, France, the United Kingdom, and Canada. These countries also include various attractions such as:

• France: Remy's Ratatouille L'aventure inspired by the movie ‘Ratatouille’ by Disney. This is a darkride attraction in the France theme area, where you race the size of a rat in the restaurant of the movie Ratatouille. 
• Norway: Frozen Ever After inspired by Disney's Frozen movies. Here you sail around in a boat through the magical world of Frozen, where you will meet characters such as Olaf, Elsa and Anna.
• Mexico: Gran Fiesta Tour inspired by the three Caballeros. This darkride boat tour takes you through the world of the three Caballeros performing in Mexico.

The cast members of Disney in this part of the park, often come from the respective countries you can encounter as well. This way you get to experience a bit more culture at the various pavilions!

Practical tips for EPCOT

• Download the ‘My Disney Experience app.’ - This lets you find out about wait times, a map/map that makes it easy to find attractions and places to eat. But in this app you can also buy your fastpasses, order your food at selected locations and find other fun extras for in the parks!
• Plan popular attractions smartly - Attractions such as Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Remy's Ratatouille L'aventure are attractions where the queue can get very long. So plan carefully when you want to visit these attractions. So Rope Dropping is also definitely a good thing to do at this Disney park.
• Count on a lot of walking - This is the largest park of Walt Disney World's 4 parks, so a lot of walking, in some attractions you even have to walk around. So wear appropriate shoes and a bag that is not too heavy.
• Theme festivals - EPCOT changes Festival in the Park every few months! Should you have a preference for one of these festivals, it's helpful to keep this in mind. Usually you'll find the Festival of the Arts in January and February, and the Flower and Garden Festival from March through June. In August through November you will discover the tastiest snacks at the Food & Wine festival, and to end the year, in November and December you have the Festival of the Holidays.   
• Food and drink within the park - Fortunately, you have plenty of choice when it comes to food and drink, as you will find many different countries in the ‘World Showcase’ area. Each country also has an eatery with the corresponding dishes .
• Skip the queues! - If you prefer not to stand in queues at the attractions, it may be smart to buy a fastpass. Of course, you then have to consider the corresponding amount to buy the fastpass. Passes can vary in price and are available for different attractions.
