Ellis Island, located in New York Harbor, is an island steeped in history. Between 1892 and 1954, millions of immigrants seeking a better life in America passed through here. The island was the gateway to the ‘Land of the Free’ and thus has special significance in American history. Today, Ellis Island is a museum where you can learn about the experiences of these immigrants. You can visit interactive exhibits, view old documents and even reenact the medical examinations the immigrants underwent.
