Day Program

We have put together this program so that you will experience several highlights of Japan! The program is indicative and it is possible to do the days in Osaka and Tokyo in a different order.

Day 1

Today your journey begins at Schiphol Airport! Here the plane is ready to fly directly, or with a short transfer, to Osaka, Japan. Total flight time is between 14 and 20 hours. With 23 kg of checked baggage, you'll also have plenty of room to bring not only belongings, but also the space to bring back souvenirs!

It is also possible to start this trip with a transfer in Düsseldorf or Brussels. Often the price difference between the different airports is limited. Please indicate your preference in the booking form.

Day 2

After an overnight flight, you will arrive during the day in Osaka, Japan's 3rd largest city by population!

After customs formalities and baggage collection, a transfer awaits you to take you directly to your selected hotel in Osaka. Depending on your arrival time, you still have the opportunity to get a first impression of Japan by visiting one of the highlights in Osaka. For example, visit the Kuromon Ichiba market, with Japanese street food or take a preliminary look at the Umeda Sky Building!

Day 3

Today you have the entire day to explore Osaka. This metropolis has several highlights worth visiting. Visit the Nishinomaru Castle with an adjacent park or wander around the bustling Dotonbori district where you will find bizarre scenes along the waterfront. Don't forget to sample 1 of the many local food specialties, Osaka is not known as the culinary capital of Japan for nothing!

You can easily move yourself around Osaka by public transportation. The hotel is close to 1 of the many railway stations in this city. All of the city's highlights are also near a train station.

Osaka by night

Day 4

Just grab your Super Mario cap from your suitcase because it's time for Universal Studios Japan! Depending on your hotel, this park is a few minutes walk or 2 stops away by train.

In this unique park you will be short of eyes and ears because of all that is going on around you. You will find classics such as Harry Potter, Super Nintendo and Jurassic Park. But the Minions, Sesame Street and Snoopy have also been given a prominent place in the park here. After a day full of fun, you can still visit Universal Citywalk for some final shopping or a delicious meal at 1 of the many restaurants found here.

Because Universal Studios Japan can be very crowded, we recommend purchasing an Express pass. With this pass you have faster access to selected attractions. Of course it is also possible to spend 2 days in this beautiful park, please indicate your wishes in the request form.

Day 5

Time for a cultural change with a visit to the ancient capital of Kyoto! From your hotel it takes about 45 minutes by train to Kyoto Central Station, from where you can visit the various highlights of this city.

Take a look at the 10,000 arches of Fushimi Inari Taisha and then visit Kiyomizudra. This temple is more than 1,000 years old from where you can get a great view of the city. If time permits, it is also well worth visiting the Golden Pavilion or the Bamboo Forest on the outskirts of town. In short, plenty to do to fill this day with cultural highlights!

After this amazing day, you will travel back to your hotel in Osaka by train.

Please note that this day has no set program and is customizable to your own needs. The cost of public transportation is not included.

Temple Japan

Day 6

The last full day in Osaka is scheduled and it promises to be one with fantastic highlights!

For example, visit Nara, the Deer City of Japan. The town (small by Japanese standards but still with over 400,000 inhabitants) is best known for several ancient temples and the Sika deer that roam freely here. Walk through Nara Park, one of the highlights with many temples, several of which you can also find on the UNESCO World Heritage List. This is also where the more than 1,200 domesticated ‘sacred’ deer roam. These deer are totally unafraid of humans and you can feed them with special deer cookies that you can get anywhere in the park.

Prefer to stay in Osaka on this day? Then you won't have to bore yourself either! For example, visit the Osaka Aquarium or Umeda Sky Building for stunning views of the city.

Day 7

Today we leave Osaka behind and board the Shinkansen to Japan's capital, Tokyo! Did you know that this literally means ‘Eastern capital’?

From the hotel you will travel to the Shinkansen Station in about 15 minutes. Here a bullet train leaves every 8 minutes to Tokyo central. This train trip takes 2.5 hours. From Tokyo Central, it is about another 30 minutes travel to Tokyo Bay, here are the 2 Japanese Disney parks.

You will be staying at one of the Tokyo Bay hotels this week. These are partner hotels of Tokyo Disney Resort which can all be reached by the famous monorail. Ideal to get everything out of your park days!

It is also possible to stay at a Disney hotel upon request. However, these hotels can only be booked shortly in advance and therefore cannot be guaranteed during the trip booking process.

Shinkansen Japan

Day 8-11

For the next four days, you will be completely immersed in the world of Disney! Hidden in the heart of Japan, in the bustling metropolis of Tokyo, are two true gems: Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. Your four-day ticket gives you plenty of time to explore both parks extensively and be enchanted by the unique atmosphere and attention to detail the Japanese are known for. Enjoy the magical attractions and discover one of the most beautiful parks in the world!

You have 2-day tickets available for both parks. This means you can visit these parks for a total of 4 days, park hopping is not possible.

Tokyo DisneySea Japan Asia - Lampoon Rapunzel Tangled

Day 12-13

Unfortunately, the 4 full days of Tokyo Disney Resort are already over. Of course it is possible to enjoy the Disney magic a little longer, but also in Tokyo you will find many ‘bucket list’ activities. On these days, you choose how to arrange them.

From Tokyo Disney Resort you are in about 30 minutes in the center of Tokyo and you can visit various highlights of this city. Some places worth seeing can be found in the districts of Shibuya, Harajuku and Shinjuku. There are also several activities/attractions that you definitely can't have missed either. Here, of course, we are talking about Tokyo Sky Tree, Harry Potter Experience and Teamlab.

Prefer a little more nature? Then travel past Tokyo towards Mount Fuji! Here, on the edge of Mount Fuji, you will find several beautiful vantage points on the mountain as well as Fuji-Q amusement park. This amusement park is unique because of its fast-paced roller coasters and location.

Skyline Japan

Day 14-15

Unfortunately, this wonderful trip to Japan is over again and it is time to return home. Depending on your flight time, you will be picked up during the day to be taken to Tokyo airport by private transfer. If you fly directly with KLM, you will be in the Netherlands the same day. If you choose a flight with a transfer, you will land back in the Netherlands the next morning.

Hope you were able to make many new memories and have an unforgettable trip!

Japan

Time: In Japan, it is 7 hours later in the summer, 8 hours later than in the Netherlands in the winter.
Language: The official language in Japan is Japanese. Although English is not widely spoken, in major cities and tourist areas it is common for people in hotels, restaurants and stores to speak and understand English.
Voltage: 100 volts. You will need a travel adapter to connect Dutch devices. Currency: Japanese yen

Communications

Telephoning in Japan
The mobile network is generally very good. However, keep in mind when using your cell phone during your vacation in Japan, providers may charge high rates. Do you want to use a lot of data during this trip? Then it may be cheaper to purchase a local SIM card or use an E-sim through Airalo, for example.

Internet in Japan
Almost all accommodations, restaurants and other public places have free Wi-FI.

Food and Drink

It is mostly possible to drink plain tap water without problems. However, you can also buy bottled water in stores and vending machines. Japanese cuisine is known for its freshness and taste. You will enjoy many traditional Japanese dishes such as sushi, ramen and tempura. Several international cuisines can also be found. In many places, people eat with chopsticks, and in several cities you have nice street stalls with small snacks. Should you still want to go for a familiar meal, fast food chains are also available for a quick bite.

Money matters/Trophies

The official currency in Japan is the Japanese Yen (JPY). One Euro is approximately 184 Yen. One Yen is approximately 0.0054 Euro (March, 2026). The Yen is usually rounded to whole amounts, as coins of 1 and 5 Yen have little value. The exchange rate can change, so always check it before departure.

International credit cards are accepted almost everywhere and there are ATMs where you can withdraw money with your Dutch debit card. When paying in a store, always choose to pay with local currency on the ATM machine. This is much cheaper than having the exchange rate done by the store. Please note that you may need to activate your debit card for use outside Europe. Cash is still common in Japan, so we recommend bringing Yen or using debit cards for purchases in smaller stores.

Tipping in Japan is not common and can sometimes even be seen as insulting.

Border Documents and Health

Visa: If you have Dutch or Belgian nationality, you do not need a visa to enter Japan. Only from a travel duration of 90 days is this necessary.
Legitimation: For Dubai/Abu Dhabi, you need a Dutch or Belgian passport that must still be valid for at least 6 months when you return home.

Climate

Japan for the most part has a temperate maritime climate, therefore there are warm summers and mild winters. The south of Japan has a warm sea climate. There is a fair amount of precipitation in Japan, it depends on the season. There is more rain in the summer than in the winter, but temperatures are around 10 degrees in the winter. Japan also has 4 seasons just like the Netherlands, only the temperatures drop less than ours.

Transportation

The best way to get around in Japan is by public transportation. For example, there are several trains, buses and streetcars running between different locations and there is also a speed train (Shinkansen). This is an affordable and easy way to get around the country.

Driving in Japen is, of course, also possible. Because of the excellent public transportation, this is our preference.
