Just outside the bustling metropolis of Tokyo lies one of the most extraordinary Disney destinations in the world, Tokyo Disney Resort. This massive resort consists of two unique theme parks: the enchanting Tokyo Disneyland and the spectacular, globally unique Tokyo DisneySea.
Here the familiar magic of Disney merges with the refined hospitality and attention to detail where Japan famous for. Whether you take a day trip or stay several days, an unforgettable mix of iconic attractions, immersive shows and culinary surprises await you at Tokyo Disney Resort, all just a short train ride from the heart of Tokyo.
Tokyo Disneyland is the first park of Tokyo Disney Resort and opened its gates in 1983. It was inspired by the original Disneyland in California and the Magic Kingdom in Florida, but has a Japanese charm all its own. You'll find seven themed areas, including Adventureland, Fantasyland and Tomorrowland, full of beloved rides and colorful parades.
What makes Tokyo Disneyland unique is the perfect combination of familiar Disney icons with exclusive shows and that Japanese touch. Think impressive Halloween parades, spectacular Christmas decorations and unique snacks available nowhere else in the world. Highlights include classics like Splash Mountain, Space Mountain and It's a Small World. But there are also many attractions you won't find (almost) anywhere else like the Enchanted Tale of Beauty and the Beast, Pooh's Hunny Hunt and Monsters, Inc. Ride & Go Seek.
Tokyo DisneySea is the showpiece of Tokyo Disney Resort and exists nowhere else in the world. Inspired by myths, legends and sea explorations, the park offers a mix of adventure, atmosphere and detail that surprises even seasoned Disney fans. From the romantic Mediterranean Harbor to the mysterious Mysterious Island, each area is detailed down to the last detail.
One of the newest gems is Fantasy Springs, a breathtaking themed area where three beloved worlds come to life: Frozen, Peter Pan and Tangled. Here you can stroll through Arendelle, sail to Never Land or be swept away by Rapunzel's lantern sea. Must-do attractions include Peter Pan's Never Land Adventure, Anna and Elsa's Frozen Journey and Rapunzel's Lantern Festival.
In addition to the novelties, you'll find iconic top attractions that have made the park famous, such as Journey to the Center of the Earth, Tower of Terror and Indiana Jones Adventure. Add impressive evening shows on the water, unique seasonal decorations and Japanese hospitality, and you have a park that for many is the absolute number one Disney experience in the world.
Tokyo Disney Resort is located in Urayasu, in Chiba Prefecture, directly on the east side of Tokyo. Thanks to its convenient location, the resort is easily accessible from downtown Tokyo and from both international airports.
If you travel by public transportation, Maihama Station is the nearest train station. From Tokyo Station, you can get to Japan's Disney Parks in about 30 minutes on the JR Keiyo line or the JR Musashino line. From Narita International Airport and Haneda Airport, there are direct shuttle buses to the resort.
Visitors who want to enjoy Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea for several days can choose to stay at one of the official Tokyo Disney Hotels or at nearby partner hotels. This is something we definitely recommend at the time when you want to visit the parks for 3 or more days. This will save you travel time so you can get the most out of your tickets to Disneyland Tokyo and DisneySea!
At Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, you'll find a mix of classic Disney magic and attractions you won't experience anywhere else in the world. These highlights are definitely not to be missed:
Shows and parades also play a big role in the Tokyo Disney Resort experience. At Disneyland Tokyo, colorful parades such as “Dreaming Up!” and the evening projections on the castle create magical moments. DisneySea unpacks with large-scale evening shows on the waters of Mediterranean Harbor, bringing together lights, music and fireworks. Throughout the year, seasonal events, such as Halloween and Christmas, continually bring new spectacular productions that give the resort a fresh and unique atmosphere.
Eating at Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea is an attraction in itself. The resort is known for its creative, photogenic and often exclusive delicacies that you won't find anywhere else in the world.
For example, try the adorable Toy Story Alien Mochi or try the popcorn in dozens of flavors, from classic caramel to surprising varieties like curry or honey! Other favorites include the colorful sushi rolls, airy melonbread, savory shrimp burgers, soft bao buns and the shell-shaped ice cream that is a real Instagram hit at DisneySea.
The restaurants are also an experience. In Tokyo Disneyland, step inside the fairytale Queen of Hearts Banquet Hall, inspired by Alice in Wonderland, or go for medieval coziness at Tavern Gaston. In DisneySea you'll find, among other things, The Snuggly Duckling from Rapunzel, where the theming is right down to the last detail. Whether you opt for a quick snack or an elaborate dinner, at Tokyo Disney Resort, food is always a magical part of your day!
Those who really want to be fully immersed in the magic can stay overnight at one of the official Disney Hotels within Tokyo Disney Resort. These accommodations offer direct access to the parks, exclusive merchandise and early access to popular attractions. For example, you have the luxurious Tokyo Disneyland Hotel, Tokyo Disney Resort Toy Story Hotel or the Celebration Hotel. Because these hotels are very popular, rooms are often released for reservation only two months in advance.
In addition to the official hotels, there are several partner hotels in the immediate area, such as the Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay Hotel, Hilton Tokyo Bay and Hotel Okura Tokyo Bay. These accommodations offer comfortable rooms, excellent facilities and often a free shuttle to the parks. Partner Hotels are ideal for those who want to stay close to the magic, book on time and seek a little more flexibility or a more favorable price.
