All parks and resorts in Orlando provide opportunities for visitors with (visible) physical or mental disabilities to enjoy all the beauty the parks and resorts have to offer.

Resorts have invested heavily in recent years to make attractions and shows accessible to the widest possible audience. Still, a visit may present additional challenges. The various Orlando resorts (and surrounding areas) handle this in different ways and have different conditions for using the services offered in this area. How do you explore the different theme parks in Orlando with a disability? We explain that step by step here.

WALT DISNEY WORLD

Walt Disney World Resort uses the Disability Access Service (hereafter: DAS). This service provides support to guests who, due to an autism spectrum disorder, for example, are unable to wait in a regular queue for an extended period of time.

Important to know

  • The guest for whom DAS is requested must be present during registration and must actually experience the attraction at the time the DAS return time is redeemed at Walt Disney World theme parks.
  • DAS does not provide direct access to attractions, but allows guests to request a return time for a specific attraction similar to the current wait time in the regular line.

Using DAS (or other provision).

In order to use DAS, or any possible other amenity, your request must be approved. Guests can speak with a Walt Disney World representative via a live video call to determine which amenities are appropriate to support their visit to the theme parks, including DAS. You can schedule this call starting 60 days prior to your park visit.

If you are unable (or unwilling) to make a request prior to your trip, you have the option of going to Walt Disney World on the day of your visit to check in with Guest Relations at the park to be visited. On the spot - also through a live video call - the request can then be made. Of course, this is subject to the availability of a representative.

If you want to apply before your trip begins, you can only do so through Walt Disney World's U.S. website. This website can only be accessed if you are present in the United States of America, or if you are using a VPN (Virtual Private Network). A VPN creates a secure connection between your computer, tablet or mobile and a remote website. By choosing a server in a specific country, it appears as if you are there, allowing you to access content (such as this website) that is only available in that country.

Once you have activated this VPN connection, you can use this page make the request. On this page you will also find the full explanation for using this service. Please note that this information is only available in the English language.

For guests who only have a mobility problem, this request is not possible because the queues of the attractions are also accessible to these guests.

UNIVERSAL ORLANDO RESORT

Universal Orlando Resort like Walt Disney World, has an extensive program to make its parks and resorts accessible to the widest possible audience. Hier you will find all the information given by Universal itself. This information is only available in the English language.

Universal Orlando has a Attractions Assistance Pass developed for guests who are unable to wait in a regular queue for an extended period of time due to a disability. Guests who wish to take advantage of this can apply for an Individual Accessibility Card (IAC), and then apply for an Attractions Assistance Pass at Universal Orlando.

How do you apply for an Attractions Assistance Pass?

  • From 30 days to no later than 48 hours prior to your visit, you must register at accessibilitycard.org. Please note that applying for an IAC is not a guarantee of obtaining one. The registration process consists of an online application where documents must be uploaded. Medical or psychological information is not required here.
  • After approval from the IAC, a Universal Orlando Team Member will contact you to discuss appropriate queue assistance and possibly issue you an Attractions Assistance Pass.

Guests unable to register in advance can contact the Universal Destinations and Experiences Guest Accessibility team at +1 (407) 817-8349 or visit a Guest Services location at the theme parks for additional information.

For guests who only have a mobility problem, this request is not possible because the queues of the attractions are also accessible to these guests.
