Orlando is best known for its major theme parks such as Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort and SeaWorld Orlando. In addition, you can store in outlet malls, eat and go out in areas such as Disney Springs and CityWalk, explore nature around lakes and parks or take a day trip to Florida's beaches.
Orlando is located in the Eastern Time Zone. It is usually six hours earlier there than in the Netherlands. During Dutch summer time, the time difference is temporarily five hours.
Walt Disney World is officially located in the Orlando area. Some of the hotels and access roads are in Kissimmee, but the resort is globally referred to as Walt Disney World Orlando.
For adults, Universal Orlando Resort and Disney parks such as EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios are especially popular. These parks offer many attractions, shows, restaurants and events that are attractive even without children.
An affordable trip to Orlando starts with flexibility. By traveling outside school vacations, booking early and comparing different flight options, you can cut costs. Choosing hotels outside the Disney area or combination trips can also lower the total amount.
Spring and fall are often more economical than summer and holidays. During these periods, the weather is pleasant and the parks are usually less crowded.
For a first visit to Orlando, at least a week is recommended. If you want to visit several parks and explore the area, two weeks is ideal, also to better spread the travel budget.
