Discover Shanghai Disneyland and its 10th anniversary, from shows to merchandise!
Disneyland Anaheim is not just any amusement park, it is the very first Disney park in the world! Opened in 1955 and designed under the direction of Walt Disney himself, this original Disneyland is the foundation of the global Disney Empire. Many of the iconic attractions, themes and snacks we know today began here.
In 2001, the offerings were expanded to include a second park in addition to the original Disneyland Park: Disney California Adventure Park, also owned by The Walt Disney Company. This park initially revolved entirely around the beauty and diversity of California. Together, the two parks are a unique blend of Disney magic, adventure and nostalgia.
Both parks are located in Anaheim, a city in sunny southern California, just a 45-minute drive from Los Angeles. Thanks to this convenient location, Disneyland Resort Anaheim combine perfectly with other top destinations or theme parks in California such as the Walk of Fame, Santa Monica and Universal Studios Hollywood.

The Disneyland Resort in Anaheim consists of two parks: the iconic Disneyland Park and the adventurous Disney California Adventure. Each park has its own character, offering a completely different experience. But what exactly is there to do at Disneyland Anaheim?
Disneyland Park was personally opened by Walt Disney in 1955 and was the very first Disney park in the world. It grew out of Walt's dream of creating a place where families could enjoy a world of fantasy, adventure and stories together. He was closely involved in its design and construction, making the park a unique part of Disney's heritage.
To this day, the park is the birthplace of magic. You'll walk through classic themed lands like Fantasyland and Adventureland, where you'll find iconic attractions such as Matterhorn Bobsleds, Jungle Cruise and Pirates of the Caribbean. Many of these attractions are original versions that originated here. The Matterhorn is even unique to Disneyland Anaheim; you won't find it in any other Disney park in the world.
Over the years, Disneyland Park has continued to grow and innovate while maintaining its classic charm. One of the biggest expansions in recent years is Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. An impressive themed area where you are fully immersed in the Star Wars universe. Thanks to such additions, the park remains not only nostalgic, but also surprising and current.

Disney California Adventure opened its doors nearly fifty years later, and in the beginning was entirely centered on the state of California itself. In the early years, there were hardly any references to Disney, such as famous characters or attractions based on movies. In 2007, The Walt Disney Company decided to change that and bring more Disney magic to the park.
Each themed area was redesigned to transform the park from a collection of attractions inspired by California culture to a romanticized version of the state based on stories by Disney and Pixar. For example, Pixar Pier was created, with influences from Toy Story and The Incredibles, among others, and Radiator Springs was added, based on the movie Cars. Some areas with typical California character remained, such as Grizzly Peak, but were given subtle links to films like Brother Bear.
In 2021, the highly anticipated Avengers Campus opened its doors. There you'll meet heroes like Spider-Man and Captain America and step into spectacular attractions like Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT!, the revamped version of the iconic Tower of Terror. Thanks to this continuous renewal and expansion, Disney California Adventure remains dynamic and full of adventure.

The main difference between the two parks is that the original Disneyland Park is all about classic Disney magic, where of course you'll find the Disney castle. Disney California Adventure instead focuses more on modern Disney and Pixar characters, exciting attractions and experiences for older children and adults. Because this park is a bit more compact, you can experience most of the attractions in one day. Want to experience the real Disney feel? Then a visit to both parks is absolutely worth it!
In addition to Disneyland in Anaheim, the United States is also home to the giant Walt Disney World in Orlando. But what exactly is the difference between Disneyland Anaheim and Disney World?
